Students are given an overview of the communication, marketing, and creative aspects of the advertising industry. The module will discuss the historical foundations of the advertising and marketing industry (globally), but will discuss mainly South African industries. Case studies of successful advertising campaigns and global brands will be evaluated to further discuss the marketing processes that occur towards this known success. The course will focus on the industry from the vantage point of advertising agencies. Emphasis will be placed on media buying and media production. Students will learn through the practice of producing media campaigns under conditions typically found in the advertising industry. The final project assigned will add to the student’s practical skills in the field of advertising and marketing
3rd Year The 3rd Level modules take to more advanced levels the themes explored at the 2nd level. MCS Major students must take four of the MCS modules offered.
